多元诠释和多元载体是西方民族音乐学学科定位的两个基点，前者是学科奠基成型的构架依据，后者是学科发展，壮大的理论条件，两者的结合，旨在特定社会语境里探讨人类音乐行为的文化意义，这种探讨即是"文化中的音乐研究。
