This article focuses on the academic music composition in China.Along with the realization of the previous centennial ideal that stands among the world's advanced rank and confronting the current new trends,this article proposes a new ideal that produces great composers as well as great works with novel and sustainable Chinese cultural tradition through the “creative transformation”.In view of the historical experience,in which Chinese academic music composition serves as a leading role in the developmental process of music,this article further proposes the future ultimate ideal that will promote the re-emergence of a world-class musical metropolis in China by those great compositions and great composers.
This article elaborates in both theoretical construction and practical concerns.It consciously builds an effective mechanism for Chinese academic music composition in theory,and as in the aspect of practical concerns,it believes that present China is qualified to be a world-class musical metropolis but still with a certain gap.The cur- rent situation is therefore examined and evaluated to identify the gaps and to seek solutions as well.
