Abstract

Although the academic understanding of the octave grouping of the sound names of Zeng Hou Yi's Bell and Chime has been already in a relatively deeper stage,the cognitions are still fragmented with certain divergent opinions,and some details have not received the attention they deserve.The article introduces the complexity and divergence of the research on the octave of the sound and name of Zeng Hou Yi's Bell and Chime,and clarifies the methods and basis for grouping sound and name octaves from different bell groups,positions,instruments, and inscriptions.Accurately understanding the octave grouping of the sound names of Zeng Hou Yi's Bell and Chime is of reference value for interpreting the five tone synonyms in the Five Tone Diagram of the Tsinghua bamboo slips, the tuning of the Zhou to Han dynasty zither,and the current construction of the Chinese music discourse system.
