Abstract
Since the 20th century, the emergence of “Avant-garde” music has brought unconventional and novel inspirations to traditional music creation in terms of creative concepts, styles ,and techniques. The multi-di- mensional content contained in their works requires us to study them from more complex scientific perspectives. Sofia Gubaidulina,a renowned modern Russian composer, advocates to release the“material”(rhythm, formal structure, melody, etc.,in traditional music)from its expressive restraints and to regulate it with new definitions and operational rules. She persistently explores novelty in rhythm and time of music, pioneering a "rhythmic”form and establishing a complete system of serial proportional operations. In addition, the“symbolic symbols” with strong religious mystique and the creative means called “numeric plots” in her works all fully demonstrate the depth of the composer's reflection on the essence of music. She firmly believes in the concept of the “three trees”and constantly puts it into practice. This paper takes Gubaidulina's unique creative thinking and concepts as the research fulcrum, seeking and verifying the innovation in her music from theory and practical examples, and revealing the fundamental meaning of her creative principles. It seeks new interpretations from the mathematical theoretical rules in music, peering into the“digital chain”hidden in the sounds by the composer and its operational logic. This greatly aids in understanding Gubaidulina's creative intentions in depth and multi-dimensionality,and will also provide new inspirations and thoughts for contemporary music creation.
