Abstract
Since its establishment in 1956, the Department of Musicology at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) has persevered amidst institutional restructuring and development, gradually evolving into a comprehensive academic system encompassing six major fields that comprise fifteen specialized sub-disciplines. Over the past seventy years, the department has consistently upheld the ethos of rigorous scholarship, innovation, dedicated mentorship, and intellectual openness. It has nurtured a distinguished cohort of influential scholars and achieved remarkable accomplishments in disciplinary development, academic research, and public engagement. Its foundational role in establishing the framework for musicology in China is widely recognized. In talent cultivation, it has continually supplied CCOM and the broader music education community with professionals who possess both academic rigor and practical expertise, thereby exerting a profound and lasting impact on both academia and the profession.
