Abstract
The principle of “poetry and music giving life to each other,” a core characteristic of traditional Chinese art, has been consistently sustained throughout the development of Chinese art songs. To this day, classical Chinese poetry remains an important textual source for the composition of art songs. The binary structure constitutes both the fundamental structural logic and the aesthetic framework of Tang-Song poetry. By analyzing art songs composed by LUO Zhongrong, WANG Jianzhong, YANG Liqing, and JIA Daqun, this study examines how these works rely on the binary structure of ancient poetry to realize a musical imagination of its poetic imagery. It further explores a new value paradigm of poetry-music relations-one centered on structural dialogue and symbiotic imagery-and the artistic spirit embedded therein, aiming to offer a fresh theoretical perspective for understanding the structural interactive logic between poetry and music in contemporary Chinese art songs.
